Family spirit
Born into a family living in Médoc for three generations, Henri Martin was the grandson of a cellar-master at Château Gruaud-Larose and the son of a cooper from the village of Beychevelle. He was known as a brave and visionary man, who left an unforgettable memory in Saint-Julien history.

He also acquired Château Saint-Pierre, a « 1855 Classified Growth » and gave a new start and integrity to this exceptional vineyard of Beychevelle. Finally, he purchased Château Bel Air, Cru Bourgeois, from Haut-Médoc Appellation in the early 80’s, become Château Bel Air Gloria since then.
Then, always fervently focused on the search of high-quality plots, Henri Martin created Château Gloria, resulting from a tremendous work and an unique process in the Médoc history. He succeeded in negotiating plots from mainly classified growths of Saint-Julien and created the masterpiece of his life. By the way, the name Gloria contributed to the reputation of Domaines Henri Martin.

Today, these five estates r epresent more than 105 hectares and keep on developping and expanding in the same dynamics wished by this pioneer, always in a family approach spread by his daughter Françoise and his son-in-law, Jean-Louis Triaud, as well as his gr andchildren, Vanessa and Jean.
